Each year, the Institute of Advanced Financial Planners hosts a Symposium for its members. The Symposium is one of the key benefits of membership, providing members with a rare opportunity to network with their peers, and to study technical subjects related to financial planning at an advanced level.
This year, our fourth annual Symposium, “Beyond the Georgia Straight”, takes place at the spectacular Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort, October 19-20, with an optional session the morning of Oct. 21. There is also an optional Welcome Reception the evening before. Base cost to attend the entire Symposium is $486 plus GST, with Early Bird fees of only $411 until July 15th.
As of Sept. 10th, the VICTORIA SYMPOSIUM IS SOLD OUT! Please contact us at 1-888-298-3292 if you wish to be added to the registrations Wait List. If you need to cancel, please contact us right away. (See our Symposia Refund Policy.)
Our current Agenda and first announcement and first announcement are available for viewing or downloading from the box to the right. These contain information on the Symposium theme, speakers, topics, incentives and activities in Victoria. We followed up with an update to all members in May via email. View the May Update here. (If you are searching for Symposium reference documents such as speakers' papers, you must access the Symposium 2006 Downloads page, which requires pre-registration and payment.)
Only IAFP members in good standing may attend the Symposium. To learn more about becoming a member of the IAFP, visit our Becoming an R.F.P. section.
This year's theme is "Life's Later Stages". Building on the success of our previous Symposia, the main part of the program will be case-based presentations by experts in the fields of retirement planning, estate planning, long-term care, and other issues encountered by an aging clientele.
Roundtable discussions, designed to tap into the expertise of other R.F.P.s will be held on Thursday and Saturday mornings. These facilitator-led discussions will first help you get acquainted with the cases, and then bring the plan to conclusion. Your registration fee includes both roundtable sessions for maximum Continuing Education credits. Why not earn CE Credits while enjoying one of the most beautiful cities in Canada?
IAFP members can obtain a 10% discount on the Financial Divorce Specialist (FDS) designation course being offered in Victoria immediately following the IAFP Symposium - on Saturday afternoon and evening, and Sunday Oct. 22nd. There's also an Advanced class on the 23rd.
This 30 CE credit course is taught by R.F.P.s Linda Cartier and Akeela Davis, and will be held at the Delta Victoria Hotel, the same location as the IAFP Symposium. For complete information, visit the Academy of Financial Divorce Specialists website.
We have once again arranged a discount on air travel to the Symposium. See the WestJet discounts page.
If you have any further enquiries, please don’t hesitate to call us at 1-888-298-3292.
