To All IAFP Members:
The Institute of Advanced Financial Planners (IAFP) issued a press release to the trade papers today on the infringement of our trademark by the Institute for Advanced Financial Education (IAFE). The Press Release explains why this is a clear and very serious infringement. It also touches on the implications for both our organization and the professional standard it upholds through preservation of the R.F.P. designation.
After more than a year of collaborative talks with Advocis on the development of a national standard for financial planners, we are disappointed in their response to our expressions of concern over the new name chosen for the CLU Institute. Since our attempts to resolve this situation amicably have been rejected, we feel we have been forced into a confrontation.
Here’s how you can help preserve the IAFP and R.F.P. designation:
For further information, contact our Executive Director, Larry Colero, at 1-888-298-3292.
We are still hoping to resolve this issue amicably, but if we cannot, we are counting on the support of all R.F.P.s in our efforts to protect the integrity of the Institute of Advanced Financial Planners and the professional standards we promote.
Lenore Davis, R.F.P. IAFP President 2010-2011

There are a lot of people calling themselves financial planners, but an R.F.P. has the specialization and qualifications to ensure you are getting the most comprehensive financial plan available. Find one near you.
